I'm flabergasted by this consenscious work !
This is a wonderful tool to assist researchers, students and the curious young and old (I am the latter)
My field of interest is European and Middle Eastern, they are handled in great detail. There are many links direct to Wikipedia and World History Encyclopaedia for drilling into further information.
The Table of Contents link through to the relevant section on the Timeline.
Used alongside a detailed text ( I use Europe A History by Norman Davies) its is very comprehensive.
I will add further products offered by the website as needed.
Highly recommended
There is so much to take in! However, it looks like it may be a very useful tool. I am currently committed to getting my latest book ready for publication. Once that is done, I'll be starting my next project. Then I will see just how useful this may be.
I won’t review each individually. But the seven I purchased were impressive and I’m sure I will find them useful. Nice work. I’m glad I purchased them
Blown away by this and so glad I bought it. Have always loved history and thrilled to have this to explore all the different eras. Very, very grateful for the work put in to put this together.
This is fantastic software, and well worth the price whether you're using it for research or just fun. I'm drafting a historical novel and it's extremely helpful to be able to see what other historical events and periods coincide with my time period, and how they relate. It's super easy to use this, and just by browsing around it's fun to see the relationships between things that went on in history.
Excellent breadth and depth, not only for reference, but for casual looking up how the parts of history relate.
I came across the World History (of Mankind) Timeline by accident when browsing and was immediately drawn to it's comprehensive content which includes all of the great dynasties and empires on all of the populated continents of the World. I've always considered Microsoft Excel as one of the greatest pieces of software ever made and to have created this work of art using it, is simply glorious! I have already intimated that this history of mankind's history be transcribed onto an app so I can carry it with me at all times but will have to make do with the Excel version on my 'phone for now. I can only advise that you buy a copy now while it is so reasonably priced as I'm sure some entrepreneur will snap it up in the near future and charge double for it! The other histories available in this series are equally amazing and I've always wanted a pictorial version of the Greek Gods to accompany my listening of "Mythos" by Stephen Fry on Audible of which I now have a treasured copy
I'm very pleased with my purchase as the spreadsheet contains so much fascinating detail - I'm getting totally absorbed in it. The tool was easy to download and the "how to use" instructions are very helpful.
Adam has put a massive amount of effort into building this, and it shows. The World History Timeline and its companion databases are well constructed and researched. I'm running Libre Office in OpenSuse Linux and Adam has provided a version that runs smoothly in my environment. You will need a large screen / high resolution to get the best out of this; on a smaller laptop screen, a fair amount of scrolling is necessary... but that's to be expected, considering the amount of data built.
Where have you been all my life. Yes you can get this data from publications/encyclopedia but to have it it all in one place with shortcut links to wherever/whenever (within reason) is a real bonus for the casual enthusiast. I love it. Thank you.
This is a fantastic piece of work and very useful. I Have found it very useful even in my own family tree which covers some 200 years.
This is a brilliant piece of work, which I'm sure will never end! If you have the time and resources, consider adding in some of the recent discoveries about early civilizations in the Amazon and other regions of Brazil. Wikipedia is beginning to show some of this work, but the following is a list of sources you might invite to contribute.
Key experts on Pre-Columbian history in Brazil specialize in Amazonian archaeology, rock art, and early human settlement, including Eduardo Góes Neves (University of São Paulo), known for Amazonian studies; Niede Guidon, known for early human presence at Serra da Capivara; and Klaus Hilbert, focusing on Amazonian and La Plata prehistory.
Key Experts and Archaeologists
Eduardo Góes Neves (University of São Paulo): A leading figure in Amazonian archaeology, specializing in complex societies and landscape modification in the Amazon basin.
Niede Guidon: Renowned for pioneering excavations at Serra da Capivara National Park, proposing very early human settlement in South America.
Klaus Hilbert (PUCRS): Expert in Pre-Columbian South American history, specifically Amazonian and Río de La Plata regions.
Jonas Gregório de Souza (University of Exeter/UFPA): Conducts research on, earthwork constructions in the Tapajós basin.
Betty Meggers & Clifford Evans: Instrumental in establishing the National Archaeological Research Program (PRONAPA) in Brazil.
Update:
As I said in my earlier review, this is a great resource and I expect to spend hours playing around with it and adding entries.
The creator Adam got in touch and bent over backwards to fix my earlier problem. even providing me with a Libreoffice specific copy. Thanks Adam.
In short, anyone using Libreoffice needs to ignore the warning flag: 'Macros in this document are disabled due to the Macro Security settings.'
The macros in question are not meant to run in Libreoffice, so please ignore this warning, or save it as a Libreoffice .ods file.
Regards, Mark
PREVIOUS REVIEW
It's a great idea, and the information contained is great.
However, I am constantly get an error on my Libre office, where by it opens up an objects window with an error saying "basic syntax error , symbol expected"
Every time I left click on anything to try and mark it, review it, or make the tiny writing bigger this happens.
I can't thank you enough for creating this. Hopefully more of us will engage with the past and this product will certainly facilitate greater understanding of how we got where we are.
